Holistic care consists of utilizing the whole-body approach focusing on the patient’s mind, body, and soul when diagnosing and treating their mental illness. Medications are merely a part of the treatment, and not the entire plan. It’s vital to consider the patient’s overall well- being and discuss factors concerning their lifestyle, diet, exercise, sleep habits, stress level, physical and social health needs while working with the patient to collaboratively develop their individualize plan of care.
